Gameplay Guide

From Maple Island to 4th job. Use the chapter bar to jump to what you need.

Getting started

  1. Install the launcher and make an account

The launcher keeps the HD client up to date by itself. Register on the site, then log in with the same account in the game.

  2. Create your character on Maple Island

Everyone starts as a Beginner in the training camp. The Maple Administrator next to Sera explains the server, and your first character gets the starter kit: 1,000 mesos, 5,000 NX, a 5x EXP Card for 4 hours and 10 Megaphones.

  3. Finish the Amherst quests, then take Shanks' boat

Talk to Heena, Roger and the townsfolk for easy EXP and gear. At level 10 (level 8 for Magicians) sail from Southperry to Victoria Island. You can't come back, so finish up first.

  4. Make your 1st job advancement

Free at the Job Plaza in MapleFresh Town (FRESH TOWN in the Game Menu, or @freshtown), or the classic way with your instructor in Perion, Ellinia, Henesys or Kerning City. Pirates head to the Nautilus. Every step is below.

  5. Train, quest, party

!train names the best spot for your level (!train go takes you there), every party quest can be started solo, and the Claw Machine in town pays you NX just for logging in each day.

Your 5x EXP CardIt works on its own from the Cash tab of your inventory and lasts 4 hours. Type @expcard to see the time left. The 10x EXP Card is for level 10 and up, and it disappears if you die.
Say hiHold T to talk in voice chat, use a Megaphone to reach the whole channel, and type @gm + a message if you need a GM.

Choose your class

Five Explorer classes with the original v62 job advancements, 1st job to 4th.

Job advancement

Pick a class
Two ways, your choice. The classic quests are exactly v62 and free. The Job Plaza in MapleFresh Town (@freshtown) does the same advancement on the spot: 1st job free, 2nd job 2,000 NX, 3rd job 5,000 NX, 4th job 10,000 NX. Either way you get the same SP, AP and items.

Where to train

!train go

The game recommends a map for every level and spawns extra monsters there (up to three times the normal amount, with faster respawns). Type !train for yours, !train go to be taken there, !train list for all of them. Spinel in MapleFresh Town has the same list, sorted by level. Everywhere else, maps have their exact v62 monster counts; the classic EXP maps (Henesys Hunting Ground, the Ant Tunnel and the like) keep their full spawns.

LevelMapMonstersSpawns

Also good: the bosses upstairs in every Free Market room, and Henesys Hunting Ground II with triple spawns for the first ten levels.

MapleFresh Town

FRESH TOWN · @freshtown · free

A moonlit marble island above the clouds, and the server's hub. Spinel and the Maple Administrators in the towns of Victoria Island (and Southperry) take you there for free; so does FRESH TOWN in the Game Menu from anywhere.

MapleFresh maps

TOWNS · @towns

Six maps you won't find in GMS. MapleFresh Town is free. The other five cost 5,000 mesos a trip with the Game Menu's TOWNS button (or @towns), which opens Spinel's teleport from anywhere a return scroll works. From MapleFresh Town itself, Spinel takes you to all of them for nothing.

Party quests

All of them work, all of them solo

Every party quest runs exactly like v62, with one change: you can start any of them without a party. A player on their own enters as a party of one, and the stages that need several people standing somewhere ask for as many as there are.

Bosses

Spinel's boss entrances

Spinel in MapleFresh Town takes you to the room in front of every field boss. Zakum, Horntail and Papulatus keep their usual entrance quests and squads. @mobhp shows a boss's HP, @drops what it drops.

Bosses in the Free Market (rooms 1 to 22)

The upper floors of Free Market 1 to 22 are training grounds: each room has six of its boss, back 10 seconds after a kill, plus ten regular monsters of the same level, on every channel. They give their normal EXP and drops. Anyone with a store, hired merchant, trade or minigame window open takes no damage, and only Crimson Balrog flies down to the ground floor.

Events & challenges

Every hour, every day

Nothing here needs a GM: the OX Quiz runs by itself every hour, and the Arcade in MapleFresh Town is open around the clock. GM events are announced on the News page and in game.

Cash Shop, NX & the Trade window

Buy NX

There is one kind of NX on MapleFresh. It belongs to your account, so every character shares it, and it never drops from monsters. Here is where it comes from and where it goes.

Getting NX

    Spending NX

The Trade window is always stocked. Open Game Menu › TRADE (the Maple Trading System): besides what players list, MapleFresh keeps permanent listings of 60% weapon and armor scrolls from 1,500 NX, 10% scrolls, gloves-for-attack scrolls, special scrolls, equipment and potion bundles. Buy one and it appears in your MTS inventory (My Page); the listing stays for the next player.
